SmartCity, in its partnership with the Government of Malta, is creating 'SmartCity Malta' to transform Malta into one of the preferred world wide locations for the world's leading information and communications technology (ICT) and media firms. 'SmartCity Malta' is the brain child of TECOM Investments, as is Dubai Internet City, and of SAMA Dubai, one of the top developers worldwide having a portfolio of international real estate projects in many sectors, including residential, hospitality, commercial and retail. 'SmartCity' Malta shall be part of a global network of self sustained business townships in the knowledge economy.

Through 'SmartCity Malta' the island is set to become the region's new destination for high-tech industries. With the Government of Malta being a partner in this venture, international companies can be assured of the country's long-term commitment to knowledge based opportunities. With Malta now a European Union member the island has already seen a dramatic increase of foreign investment reaching its shores.

Malta, already a centre of excellence, is centrally located to become a strategic gateway. Positioned right in the centre of the Mediterranean it is the connecting hub between Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, making it an ideal destination for companies and going concerns wanting to locate themselves centrally on the world map. Malta is quickly developing into a regional ICT Cluster. The island boasts of a full digital telecommunications network with high capacity undersea fibre optic cables linking Malta to mainland Europe, high speed internet connections and a wide range of consultancy services available from global technology leaders. Locating on the island of Malta will be rewarding for amongst others software and hardware companies, internet and multi media companies, telecommunications and network companies, companies offering IT Services, and companies involved in Business Process Outsourcing.

In 2007 the Government of Malta was ranked by the World Economic Forum as the second most successful government in the world in terms of promoting ICT. Furthermore the local workforce is bi lingual, speaking both Maltese and English, thus affording good communication abilities with a broad range of countries. The Mediterranean lifestyle and rich cultural heritage make Malta a popular holiday destination and a preferred location for seminars and corporate training sessions.

Forming part of 'SmartCity' Malta shall give unprecedented access to a variety of important global markets and can provide all the components required for success.
